The History of Azomite

The History of AZOMITE
STARTED ABOUT 30 MILLION YEARS AGO
30 million years ago when the intense pressure from the gasses created by bubbling magna caused the side of a mountain to rupture. A thick cloud of ash spewed out of the blow hole for days and formed a thick bed of highly mineralized volcanic ash.
When the rains came and saturated the volcanic ash, the natural binding ability of this mineral dust created a hard rock formation that encapsulated the minerals.As the rains continued, the mineral reserve became a seabed.
Then the seas receded and a period of tectonic activity followed.
Extreme pressures forced the earth’s crust to facture and heave ...
... lifting the previously level AZOMITE rock bed into a hill.Geologists call the hill a “hogback”. Indians referred to the pink AZOMITE hill as “painted rocks".Natives traveled great distances to reach the pink mystical “painted rocks” and chip off pebbles to be crushed and placed in the planting hole with their maize seed.The powerful pink powder was also a key ingredient in preparing healing potions.

In the late 1930’s Rollin Anderson became fascinated with the legends and began to explore the “painted rocks”.Farmers cooperated as Rollin tried to prove the legends were true.
1942 Rollin Anderson had completed several trials and was convinced of the remarkable benefits to plants, sheep, cattle and turkeys. That year he spent many grueling hours piling up rocks to make the boundary markers for several thousand acres of mineral claims.

Rollin named the product AZOMITE and later registered the name as a trademark.
AZOMITE is an acronym for ....
(A) - A to, (Z) - Z, (O) - Of, (M) - Minerals, (I) - Including, (T) - Trace, (E) - Elements.

Rollin mined, crushed and sold AZOMITE locally based on farmers testimonials.
When he retired in 1988 he leased the reserves to Peak Minerals, a compan
y formed by Wes Emerson, his close friends and family. This is the initial highwall that Rollin drilled by hand and blasted over 50 years ago!
Peak adopted a policy of supporting the legends and testimonials by completing a long series of accredited research studies at many high schools, colleges and universities. Researchers consistently find significant improvements with AZOMITE, which give credibility to the legends.

Accredited researchers report benefits for poul
try, plants and animals with AZOMITE. Scientists normally find more tnah 60 elements by ash analysis of birds, plants and animals. Textbooks list only 19 elements as beneficial. These facts lead one to conclude that more elements than 19 currently recognized must be utilized by poultry, plants and animals

Azomite untuk ternakan unggas

Research indicates using AZOMITE® in feed improves bird size, resistance to disease and greatly improves throughput in feed mills.

AZOMITE® has shown numerous benefits to the poultry industry. Accredited researchers report:
* Improved immune system functions
* Resistance to Clostridium Perfingens
* Improved feed conversions, size and yield
* Improvements in size and feed conversion using feed contaminated with various mycotoxins
* Improved pellet quality
* Improved flowability
* Improved eggshell strength and quality

Products Available

Micronized
- Ultra-fine powder (-200 mesh) used as an anti-caking agent and feed additive. (OMRI Listed).
Feed-Grit - Particle sizes ranging from 1/8” to powder. This mixture of coarse and fine AZOMITE® is designed to add “grit” to improve throughput in feed mills.
Granulated - Feed-Grit particles re-agglomerated into easy to handle granules. The livestock granules are small for good dispersion in the feed.

In theory, minerals should be applied to plants that pass the minerals on to the birds, fish and animals. In practice, however, the minerals can be added directly to the feed. This has been confirmed in several university studies that reported significant improvements when AZOMITE® was added directly to the feed at 0.3% to 1% of the total feed mix.

Feed Ration Guidelines

For poultry on a prepared feed diet, we generally recommend adding AZOMITE® at 1/2% (10 pounds per ton) of the total feed mix. A maximum of 2% (40 pounds per ton) may be added in accordance with good feed manufacturing or feeding practices.

Azomite for Flowers/Plants/Vegetables

Flowers, plants and vegetables can all benefit from the trace minerals in AZOMITE®. Gardeners can see increased germination rates, improved yield, more flowers, disease and pest resistance and better tasting vegetables.

Products Available

Micronized - Ultra-fine powder (-200 mesh) excellent for coating seeds for maximum germination and initial growth. Good amendment for crops, compost and potting soil. (OMRI Listed)
Slow-Release - Particle sizes ranging from 1/8” to powder for both rapid and longer-term results. Designed for composting and mixing/blending with other products to apply to soils. This product produces substantial dust when applied with a broadcast spreader.
Granulated - Slow-Release agglomerated into easy to handle and apply granules with only a modest amount of dust. Moisture immediately breaks down granules and can be applied with a broadcast spreader.

Law of the Minimum

The “father of fertilizer”, Justus von Liebig, developed the “Law of the Minimum” which is important in understanding what AZOMITE® does. The Law states that plant growth is determined by the scarcest, “limiting” nutrient; if even one of the many required nutrients is deficient, the plant will not grow and produce at its optimum. Conventional fertilizer programs focus on macro-nutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (p) and Potassium (K). However, if one of the many essential trace elements is deficient in the soil, the plant will not perform at its optimum, affecting yield and immune function. AZOMITE® contains rare and abundant trace elements present in volcanic ash in addition to rich minerals present in rivers – a unique combination found nowhere else on Earth.

Application Guidelines

When preparing the soil, use AZOMITE® at the rate of 1 lb per 10 sq ft. If in rows, mix with the seed or starter plant and apply at the rate of 1 lb per 25 ft of row. If bed is established, sprinkle around each plant. AZOMITE® should be applied with compost, humus, manures, or other fertilizers to provide additional levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. AZOMITE® will not burn plants. For house plants, mix 1 teaspoon per 2 inch pot diameter with potting soil before planting. Give 1 teaspoon quarterly thereafter. For roses, apply 1/2 lb. to 1 lb. to the soil around each plant and lightly till into soil.

Application Guidelines

Generally, apply 75 - 150 pounds per acre initially, followed by an annual maintenance level of half the original application. Titration studies report more AZOMITE® is better. While not justified for most field crops, certain high value crops may warrant initial application up to 2 tons per acre.
